Rune Linguistics is one of those objectives that seems small until you actually try to tick it off. It's tied to the Runeword system, so you're not just picking up a random seasonal task and moving on. You need the right setup, the right runes, and a piece of gear that can take them. Getting access to runes

Push through the Nahantu campaign until you reach the quest called Fundamental of Faith. Once that's done, go to Kurast Bazaar and speak with Alom. He'll offer the Rune Crafting priority quest. Finish that, and the Rune system opens up properly. From there, runes can start becoming part of your gear planning instead of just another thing sitting in your bags.
Finding the runes you need
Rune drops can be a bit stubborn, so don't expect everything to fall into place after one dungeon. You'll usually get better results by mixing activities instead of farming one thing until you're bored stiff. Helltides are great because the enemy density is high and the chest rewards are worth chasing. Nightmare Dungeons are also solid, especially if you're already pushing glyphs or hunting better gear. Building the Runeword
To complete the objective, you need one Rune of Ritual, one Rune of Invocation, and an item with two open sockets. The order matters more than people think. Put the Rune of Ritual in the top socket, then place the Rune of Invocation in the bottom socket. If you reverse them, the Runeword won't work, and you'll be left wondering why nothing is happening. I'd avoid using your best piece of gear for the first test unless you're sure about the combination. A decent spare item is safer while you're learning how the system behaves.
Triggering the effect
After the runes are socketed correctly, you still need to activate the Runeword in combat. The Ritual rune creates Offering when its condition is met. That could mean killing enemies, using a certain type of skill, or meeting another trigger listed on the rune. The Invocation rune then spends that Offering to fire its effect. Once that exchange happens, Rune Linguistics should complete. If it doesn't, read both rune descriptions again and make sure you're actually doing what the Ritual rune asks.
